Hi, my name is Valerie Ketner brown I'm Josh's mom. I'm 63 years old. I've had a chronic cough for close to 20 years. Now I have done every test possible. Because my friends even started calling me like said I had a, uh, kennel, cough, or typhoid, Mary, all kinds of things. They thought I had desert favor.
Anything you can imagine because the doctors were unable to find any reason. They tested me for Gertz. I tried. Medications for that? No change. I tried, um, for a while I just dosed myself with Cody and cough syrup. So, I could sleep at night cause I cough so much and it was just getting worse and worse. At first it started out just kind of occasionally.
So, I thought it was seasonal allergies. So, I take an allergy pill every day. They tested me for allergies. Couldn't find really anything too small things like older trees, which don't even grow here and nothing. So. I even had, um, went to a pulmonologist. They did lots of tests. They had me breathe, breathe, breathe through a tube, and hold my breath and take medications for, um, Asthma.
I have to think of the word anyways. They, they tried everything, nothing, and my mother had it. My brother even has that cough, not as bad as I do, but my mother was horrible. And she did every test at Virginia Mason here in the Seattle area. They couldn't find anything. Finally said we have a genetic defect.
Um, the last doctor I went to last year said that maybe was due to having bronchitis or something a lot when I was younger and the nerves, you know, maybe were, uh, affected from all my coughing and so that there was really nothing I could do, but learn to control my throat easier said than done. I tried, uh, you know, the bad guys are in your house.
If you cough, they'll kill you. Didn't matter. I'd just start hacking like crazy. I tried all kinds of mental things. I tried, you know, swallowing. Second on laws and jurors nonstop so much that my tongue got sore, nothing worked. So Josh read about a doctor in Chicago who had said that he thinks that a lot of chronic cuffs are caused by nerve damage.
And so I think he was onto something. The problem was he wanted you to take Gabapentin or he had a couple of different drugs that they would have you take. Gabby. Pinterest has a lot of bad side effects and basically it's a nerve. Deadener probably not a good idea that get hooked on that stuff. Although I thought of it since my cough was so bad, um, it really, I couldn't sleep.
The minute I laid down, I caught for a while with I get up, I start coughing when I laugh, which I do a lot. I cough cough, cough when the heat changes. I mean, I tried to figure out what could it be? Nothing. We couldn't come up with anything just that constant irritation kind of feeling in my throat. So Josh suggested I try the intra fecal stem cells.
Now I've done a bunch of stem cells and had fabulous results. I did my knees. They're like brand new. I've done, um, the IV the last couple years, I've done it because I just want that overall wellness feeling. And, and anti-inflammatory, anti-aging. All that good stuff. I figured what the heck might as well try it, although it's a little scary because they've put it right into your spinal fluid.
Um, it did her, I can't lie. It hurt a bit, bit of a pinch, but it wasn't horrible. And I did get a pretty bad headache for a whole day, which I did not like. And I felt kind of. But that went away and I'm sure it was just due to the pressure or the feeling. I don't know, but, um, I felt like my nerves were kind of firing off and I've had back surgery.
So it makes sense because they're supposed to go towards the inflammation and to.
Then my friends started saying, wow, you don't cough. Like he used to. And I did cough a lot, like all day, hundreds of times a day, it was. So I have to say I'm probably 80% better than I was. I still cough. Pretty rare. I mean, everyday I cough, but not very much couple times a day. Um, mostly it's when I first get up in the morning and I cough cough, cough, and I think it's cause drainage.
And sometimes I was coughing when I first laid down, but I'm not even doing that really at all. If I get up in the middle of the night, I might have one or two little. Pretty much, that's it. The only time I really cough is when I laugh and I laugh. I do laugh a lot at that age. Don't even laugh every time I cough anymore.
Anyhow, that's my report. If you have a chronic cough, they cannot figure out. And that sounds reasonable to you that it could be maybe damaged nerves or something. I would say give it a try. It helped me a lot. That's my report.
