Dr. Tom Roselle, DC discusses prescription opioids. Opioids attach to proteins called opioid receptors on nerve cells in the brain, spinal cord, gut, and other parts of the body and they interact with nerve cells that have the potential to reduce pain.

Opioids are prescribed by physicians for pain relief and management. They are highly dangerous and addictive because they not only dull pain but produce a sense of euphoria which can lead to opioid use disorder.
