The Love of Christ - Show Notes

Summary:
The Apostle Paul prayed for the saints to know the Love of Christ. What does this mean? We know He dies for our sins, demonstrating God’s love for us. However, there is a love of Christ which for which Paul wants us to have a deeper understanding! This is a love that will affect how we serve the Lord and live our lives for Him.

Notes:

Does Christ dwell in our hearts because we ask Him to do so?

Paul’s Prayer: for us “…to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.”

Characteristics of the heart:
    •    Deceitful above all things (the natural man)
    •    The Lord searches the heart (all men)
    •    Man believes with the heart
    •    God’s Holy Spirit indwells the heart
    •    The peace of God can rule our hearts
    •    Our hearts can know the love of Christ

Scripture References:
All Scripture references are cited from the King James Bible.

Ephesians 3:14-19, Ephesians 3:17, 2 Timothy 1:8-12, Philippians 3:7-15, 1 Corinthians 8:1-3, Jeremiah 17:9-10, Romans 10:9-11, 2 Corinthians 1:21-22, Galatians 4:6-7, Philippians 4:6-7, Colossians 3:14-17, 2 Thessalonians 3:5, Ephesians 4:11-16, Romans 8:28-30

Takeaway:
Christ dwells in our hearts by faith. It is not simply “asking Jesus into your heart,” which is an ambiguous phrase with no clear meaning. We believe on the Lord Jesus Christ to be saved! Then we begin a journey of growth whereby we come to know the Love of Christ in a personal way, becoming conformed to the image of God’s Son!
