BETTER VINTAGE AT NON-CHAIN THRIFT STORES | ANTIQUE SHOPPING

Not everywhere has a great Goodwill, a super Savers or an amazing Salvation Army! Thankfully, my friend is introducing us to her favorite haunts, thrift stores that have nice selections of cool antique and vintage goods at prices that leave us room to make a profit as resellers.

Our first stop is a church-based shop helping local tornado victims, an entire 1920s building devoted to thrifting! We find a pretty Hohner accordion, discover Hyalin Pottery and pick up a Polaroid camera made for Old School selfies. This old-time downtown store is along the Trail of Tears, and we take a moment to see a beautiful spring where the Cherokee rested along their grueling journey west.

Then it's on to the next town, where Nonnie's Attic presents a little higher caliber of bargains than your average thrift shop! Their sales help women in need, and features some really nice items donated from lakefront homes. Victorian furniture, a vase bearing lovely art nouveau woman, 1920s child's prints...this looks more like a nice consignment store than a low-end thrift, but there are things that are buyable for us resellers. We even turn up pieces I didn't show when I wrote the Treasure Craft/Pottery Craft book! We debunk the Betsy Ross myth, load up an everted 1920s console set, find a real deal on a 1960s lava lamp and find a 59 cent glass just like the one we sold for $10 last year.

Now that we have more goodies, it's off to our antique mall spaces, where we unload our stuff to resell...and end up buying things from each other in the process! Everyone has a different eye, and my friend and I are both happy to have what the other one found. There's room us all in the antique and vintage world!
