Hippo Standoff | Maasai Mara Safari | Zebra Plains

A hippo bull found itself in the wrong stretch of the Mara river as two rival bulls warn him to stay away from both upstream, and downstream of the spot where we were having morning coffee.
The hippopotamus is a very territorial animal, and standoffs like this can descend into lethal battles. The lost hippo bull was lucky here.
