Ukraine marks Independence Day six months into Russian invasion - BBC News

It has been six months since Russia invaded Ukraine and in that time the Ukrainian military claims almost 9,000 members have been killed. More than 5,000 civilian deaths have also been confirmed by the UN. Today, Ukrainians are marking the country’s Independence Day but events have been banned in the capital city Kyiv due to fears of renewed strikes by Russian forces.
