Record rain, dangerous droughts across the U.S.

Record rainfall hitting parts of the US, leading to daring rescues and also, some improvement in drought conditions. Wednesday brought historic amounts of rainfall to much of the U.S. With torrential rain clobbering parts of the southeast. Children and seniors were evacuated as flood waters filled a Mississippi daycare and retirement home. More rain is expected today. (Across parts of the south), severe weather is making a much-needed dent in the drought. On the other hand, however, the northeast continues on in the midst of a very hot and dry summer, without any substantial amount of rain in their forecast.
