A director's ambitious plan to support the settlements in Valea Plopului: The SCRUM Movie

Director Andrei Negoiţă Zagorodnâi proposes a unique way to support the social settlements in Valea Plopului and Valea Screzii: A documentary film that will be shown in cinemas in the USA, Canada and Europe, with 25% of the proceeds going to the beneficiaries of the two settlements.

120 people live in the camp in Valea Screzii, of which 80 are children and teenagers, young orphans who have left the state system, elderly women and men.

The rest of the assistants, approx. 400 people are in the care of families from the villages of Valea Plopului and Valea Screzii through the care of the Pro Vita Association for the born and unborn.

The ASHES MOVIE

"SCRUM is not just a film," says Andrei Negoiţă Zagorodnâi on the project's presentation on the official website , highlighting the fact that it will be a feature film "about people who have changed lives and - very importantly - a film that will change lives. A film about models, about fighting to the end".

He presents the feature film as a "film about children who had to be aborted, ended up abandoned or orphaned, about mothers much too young, about wasted families, about the social drama of Romania and about two champions: an athlete raised from the dust, who far beyond the condition, and the angel who gave a chance to those like him."
Inspired by reality, SCRUM "pulls the veil from the face of extraordinary lives".

"The simple child from the countryside , who had to be aborted, becomes one of the world sports champions. His path, from abandonment to glory, intersects with the figures of two great Romanian clergy - father Gheorghe Calciu Dumitreasa and his disciple, father Nicolae Tănase, and with the lives of those who were in his position: the outcasts of Romanian society".

However, the director warns that such a cinematographic project cannot be realized without support from peers.

"Help us make a film out of love for people, which will change the lives of the residents of the orphanages and old people's homes in Valea Screzii! SCRUM is an ambitious project, a film for the people, which can only be made by the people, through individual and collective contributions".

This project, which aims to raise funds for Valea Plopului, is not unique. In 2017, the St. Vladimir Institute of Orthodox Theology in New York financially supported the Pro Vita Association from Valea Plopului through the #GivingTuesday fundraising event, after which it donated 10% of the total funds collected.

Thus, following the campaign, the St. Vladimir Institute donated 13,000 dollars to the establishment founded by Father Nicolae Tănase.
For the fruitful social activity carried out, Father Nicolae Tănase from Valea Plopului Parish - Prahova received , in 2015, the Order of Saint John the Golden Mouth from His Beatitude Father Daniel, the Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church.

Pro Vita Association for the born and unborn

Pro Vita is an association that provides shelter, medical assistance and access to education for orphaned children and families in difficulty. Pro Vita contributes to the well-being of families affected by financial difficulties and, often, prevents the terrible decision of mothers to give up their unborn child.

The SCRUM Movie

That I ate ashes instead of bread, and mixed my drink with lamentation. (Psalm 101:10)

Miracles happen in Heaven, but they are reflected on earth, in people and in the things they do. Man sanctifies the place.

Such a place is Valea Screzii, where the social mission of father Nicolae Tănase has been offering, for 25 years, a new life to children, single mothers, the elderly, and people with disabilities.

Valea Screzii smells of perfume. Not of lilies, not of roses, but the fragrance of charity.

To not tell the story of this Valley of Wailing would be sacrilege . We have the mission to be the voice of the thousands of souls who were born here both the first and the second time.

The movie Scrum will tell the story of the miracle of Valea Screzii and Valea Plopului, Romania's most beautiful utopia. A story about a champion born from the ashes.

Some believe that Heaven would have been on the surface of ancient Mesopotamia. In fact, it is two hours away from Bucharest. A unique place, where the battle between Good and Evil takes place every day, and it is decided - thanks to some special people - in favor of the former. A place where giving up is not an option.

Beauty and deformity. Happiness and suffering. Despair and hope. Illness and life. Loneliness and communion. Valea Screzii is a land of contrasts. But also the filming set for the most important director in the world: God.

In 2020, after 26 years of tribulations and unsuspected triumphs experienced here, we are putting the spotlight on Valea Screzii and we will tell its story to the whole world.

Children coming from school, going down the hills to the "song" of the talanga.

Children who go to school, even though they should n't exist - what a miracle! Children who laugh, run, play together, even though their childhood is marked by abandonment, rejection, and stigma.

Suffering old people, with amputated legs, with incurable diseases, whom Romania condemned for a long time to solitude, to ostracism.
Mothers who are much too young, who fall asleep and comfort their child alone, not with the man they made it with.

The Valley of Credence is about all this and much, much more. It's about faith. The fervent belief of a man touched by angels, father Nicolae Tănase, that any being you leave behind, any fellow man you kill physically or spiritually through renunciation, is an abomination before God.

The Valley of Faith is about hope. The hope that where there is faith and people, God is omnipresent, and everything else will come.

Inspired by the example of service of father Gheorghe Calciu Dumitreasa, his teacher at the Theological Seminary in Bucharest, father Nicolae Tănase created in Valea Screzii a social phenomenon, a most beautiful utopia: a series of social settlements for the "lost sheep" of society Romanians: orphans, children abandoned or whose parents have gone to work abroad, old people affected by physical and mental suffering, whom the state system rejects, like a foreign body.

Valea Screzii holds Romania's mirror: the mirror of impotence and the mirror of possibility.

The children from Valea Screzii don't have much: but they have each other, and they have father Tănase. With such a guardian angel, how could you fear loneliness, lack, the future?

Valea Crezii is a wonder. Because here, God works through people. Through the dozens of silent volunteers, who ensure the smooth running of the social complex and offer its occupants the chance for a hot meal, education, medical treatment, but above all communion.

Through the thousands of philanthropists who have supported the work of father Tănase, since 1994.

Now, the time has come for you to come out of the shadows, out of ignorance, and help.

Be a volunteer for the children and the elderly in Valea Screzii. Help the mothers of the place to find their father, after life was to throw them away from him forever.

In 2020, SCRUM will immortalize the story of Văia Screzii, the winners here and the guardian angels who help them. In 2020, the show of Life, Pain, and Izbanzi that takes place here every day must be known to the whole world.

25% of the film's proceeds will go to the ORPHANS and ABANDONED elderly from Valea Screzii!

Chronology

Perhaps the images are worth a thousand words, but the tears and small victories - in reality, huge - of some abandoned souls, are beyond any possible description. Every day spent in Valea Crezii is a battle with a fate that does no favors. From here the victors rise, here the spirit is tempered, here the strength is tested.

The accompanying video, in which celebrities such as George Ogăraru appear - one of the people who helped Valea Screzii and Valea Plopului - and the man from whom everything started, father Nicolae Tănase, wants to convince people to come with us.

Our video introduces you to the atmosphere of Valea Screzii, using archival images taken over 20 years by Cristi Dinu, a local settled here in 1997, as an assistant to Father Nicolae Tănase. An icon painter turned cameraman and video editor, Cristi documented the heartbreaking drama of the Screzeni, in over 340 hours of filming. We offer you 5 minutes as an eternity.
