Star Trek: Picard - My Thoughts After Watching Episode 1 'Remembrance'

After watching the first episode, 'Remembrance', of Star Trek: Picard, I put my thoughts of the show on record. STP is not quite Gene Roddenberry's Star Trek. It is in many ways both a retcon and a deconstruction of Star Trek: The Next Generation and the character of Jean-Luc Picard. Do these have to be fatal flaws to enjoyment?
