Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and German chancellor address business leaders in Toronto – August 23, 2022

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz deliver remarks and participate in a question-and-answer session at an event hosted by the Canadian-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Toronto. Following their remarks, the leaders observe a signing ceremony for partnership agreements reached by the federal government and two German auto manufacturers. The agreements will secure access to Canadian raw materials in the two companies’ supply chains for building electric vehicles. Taking part in the ceremony are François-Philippe Champagne (minister of innovation, science and industry), Herbert Diess (chairman of the management board of Volkswagen Group), and Markus Schäfer (member of the management board of Mercedes-Benz Group).
