Dozens of destroyed Russian tanks were on display in Kyiv on Monday (August 22) as Ukraine nears the six-month mark since Russia invaded the country.

Ukraine is also marking this week the anniversary of its August 24, 1991 independence from Russian-dominated Soviet rule.

Although public celebrations have been banned due to a heightened threat of Russian attack, residents in the capital descended on Kyiv’s main street Khreshchatyk to look at the display of weaponry destroyed after Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24.
