Kim Jong Un's sister had strong words for South Korea's president on Friday after he once again offered economic aid to Pyongyang - if they agreed to denuclearise.

State media on Friday reported that Kim Yo Jong said of the South's leader Yoon Suk-yeol, "It would have been more favorable for his image to shut his mouth, rather than talking nonsense, as he had nothing better to say."

Yoon first proposed what he himself has described as an "audacious" plan back in May.

He next brought it up on Wednesday at a news conference marking his first 100 days in office.

South Korea's Unification Ministry, which handles relations with the North, warned of further isolation and a worsening economic crisis.

"The Unification Ministry expresses strong regret over North Korea's denouncement of our president with a rude expression and distortion of our idea, instead of responding to our ‘audacious plan,’ and also showing their intention of continuing nuclear development today."
