Turkish authorities on Sunday investigated a pair of secondary crashes at emergency sites that killed at least 35 people the previous day. In both cases, first responders tending to earlier collisions were among the dead. ABC News is reporting.

The first crash took place at roughly 10:45 a.m. local time in the southeastern province of Gaziantep. First responders and journalists were on the scene of an earlier crash when a passenger bus hurtled into them, killing at least 16 people and wounding 20 others. Fox News reported.

Several hours later, the BBC reports, a truck crashed into a crowd of people in the town of Derik, about 150 miles from the first incident. At least 16 people were killed and 29 hurt in that collision, Turkish Health Minister Dr. Fahrettin Koca tweeted. CBS News is reporting.
