Car blast kills daughter of Russian known as ‘Putin’s brain’

The daughter of an influential Russian political theorist often referred to as “Putin’s brain” was killed in a car bombing on the outskirts of Moscow, authorities said Sunday. The AP reported.

Darya Dugin, a sanctioned Russian nationalist whose father Alexander Dugin, 60, is a notorious nationalist dubbed 'Putin's brain', is thought to have been killed in an explosion on a highway near the village of Bolshiye Vyazyomy just outside the capital on Saturday night. The Daily Mail reported.

Dugin is a prominent proponent of the "Russian world" concept, a spiritual and political ideology that emphasizes traditional values, restoration of Russia's power and the unity of all ethnic Russians throughout the world. He also is a vehement supporter of Russia sending troops into Ukraine. CBS News reports.

Dugin died at the scene after "an explosive device, presumably installed in the Toyota Land Cruiser, went off on a public road and the car caught fire" at around 9.00 p.m. local time on Saturday, near the village of Bolshiye Vyazemy, according to the press service of the Russian Investigative Committee, as reported by the Russian state news agency TASS. CNN reports.
