Los Angeles Lakers

Both the Los Angeles Lakers and the Utah Jazz are established Western powers, but the names don't quite live up to their names. The Lakers, who joined BAA in 1948 and have been stationed in Chilly Minneapolis, understandably named The Lakers after Minnesota's geographic nickname, The land of 100,000 lakes
