We Can’t Love God & The World! * 1 John 2:15 * Today’s Verses

If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” Memorize a Bible verse today! When we remember Bible verses, we are more prepared for whatever the world throws at us.

In his writings, John uses the word for love (kosmos) in 3 different ways. This variety of uses can create confusion requiring a closer look at the passage's context. The first two common uses of kosmos are seen as positive. The first usage refers to the world God created and the world in which we exist. John 1, verses 9 and 10, and John 9, verse 5 are examples. The second usage, as seen in John 3:16, refers to people. Finally, in this verse, kosmos is used negatively to describe people that reject God. John is explaining that our loyalty can only go one way. If we love God, we cannot love or accept the ways of those that reject Him. We can love people and not their ways.

5 - Scripture is God's wisdom to help us live more productive lives as we fulfill our purpose for His kingdom. God's word is alive, and when we remember a verse, it will help us experience all that means in our life. As we remember verses, we are more prepared for biblical living.
