Let's talk about Federalism for a moment.

I'm Peter Serefine, and this is today's Liberty Minute.

One huge difference between progressives and conservatives is at what level of government they each want their agenda implemented.

The progressive wants the bloated, corrupt, and wasteful national government to regulate everything from the seat of power in DC.

The conservative wants the smallest possible national government with the bulk of power at the state and local level.

It seems to me that the conservatives' republican federalist model should be preferred by everyone. Regardless of your political ideology, it is far easier to push at the local city hall than it is in Congress.

Local politics is less expensive too. The federal government of our nation was explicitly designed to be slow-moving. So, why do so many of us try to push our beliefs through Congress?
