Daniel, Shadrach, Meshack and Abednego … were not defiled by Babylon, nor changed by its values and culture. As a result, they greatly impacted the course of Babylon. They were in Babylon, but Babylon was not IN THEM. Even in a state of captivity, God’s people must consecrate themselves and obey God rather than man. Even in captivity, God lead His people to build alternative systems and depend on Him and not on the foreign system that they were under.
