Does God Promise to Give You What You Want? (Psalm 37:4) | Straight Outta Context | Jon Benzinger

"Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart." - Psalm 37:4

Is Psalm 37:4 a promise that God will give you what you want? Pastor/Doctor Jon Benzinger walks us through the context of Psalm 37 and what this verse means in light of it. The answer is yes and no. No, God is not your lackey running around doing whatever you ask. That takes this verse out of context. Yes, God does give you what you want, but Psalm 37:4 is saying that He gives you what you want in the sense that He gave you the desire to want it.
