Mr. Azuma Yuukoku investigation
Hello, this is Detective Masaji. I found out about a certain strange person in the Kansai region so I decided to investigate a little. He is called Azuma Yuukoku. Of course, this is not his real name but I shall refer to him by this name. For the sake of safety reasons, I will not mention Yakuza group names in this video.
Azuma lived a life of obscurity being abandoned by his parents and being raised a lot in a Juvenile reformatory. He worked in top rated companies such as Kansai Cellular,
NTT Docomo, and Toyota. After that, he entered the Yakuza while smuggling drugs. He also sold cars and was involved in non-performing loans. Even so, one would not expect that he has a cheerful personality and a large network. I was able to contact him rather casually.
I have met many different kinds of people that have had many different kinds of experiences but this guy is just very unusual. He also sounds younger than he really is. I asked him to tell me about some unusual experiences. At first he deflected the question by saying that he couldn’t really think of anything. This changed of course.
Mr. Azuma Yuukoku quit the large cellular phone company after doing illegal contracts. He then met a man that is actually named Yuukoku from Kyoto. Mr. Azuma Yuukoku learned from him and wanted to try out the techniques. He therefore went to another cellular phone carrier and made a cellular phone contract with his fake driver’s license. He didn’t go to the company his worked for because they already knew everything about him.
You didn’t need a bank account at the time to get a cellular phone contract so it was easier to defraud the company. He then used the fake driver’s license to rent a car. It was easy for him to defraud that company too. The hardest people to defraud with a fake driver’s license are the loan sharks.
Mr. Azuma Yuukoku heard from his teacher Yuukoku that loan sharks look at the thickness of the driver’s license. The driver’s license in question uses a method where a real driver’s license front is erased and a photo with address is pasted on with a certain film brand. Therefore, the thickness does not change.
First the people will do an investigation by phone. Azuma knew a laborer company that just says “he is not here right now” when asked on the phone. There are a lot of different laborers each day so one cannot confirm occupation from the phone. Of course he made the salary report himself by computer.
He didn’t have a phone at home so he arranged to borrow a phone number from a company for a price of 10,000 yen. That company would forward calls to his cellphone. No identification was needed.
Using this method, he was able to fool the loan sharks even though he had no phone in the home. He always told them that he has 5 year work experience, 5 year living history in the area, and an annual salary of 3,000,000 yen. When he says this, the loan sharks tell him to come to the shop.
Azuma started to wonder how far he could go with his fake driver’s license. I will explain this later but Azuma was able to see through his teacher’s fake driver’s license. However, could the loan sharks see through Azuma’s fake driver’s license? Azuma has never tried this before with loan sharks so he was surprised to be asked for ID and a salary report.
Azuma Yuukoku regretted not trying with his real name. However, after he signed a bunch of documents, the money was brought in front of him. He was afraid that he would be arrested after he exited the shop but they said “Thank you very much. Come again.” The woman at the shop politely bowed. He fooled them and took the money. On top of that, he was thanked. It was a shameful crime but Mr. Azuma Yuukoku just wanted to test his skills. He didn’t want the money so he continued to return it every month.
As a result he was told, “come again because we will increase the amount that you can borrow.” During this time, Mr. Azuma Yuukoku was borrowing money with his real name. He was doing a job that was introducing people to loan sharks that accepted clients that could not loan elsewhere due to a lot of debt. It was a popular job at the time.
Loan sharks have rules as well and it was important to borrow from difficult sources. Nowadays, the general rule is up to 1/3 of your annual salary. However, no such rule was there at the time and he could borrow as much as he wanted as long as he paid it back.
However, if you make a mistake on the order of shops you go to, the amount of money and the amount of loans you can apply for decreases. The introducer teaches the correct order. He knows of cases where the client went to a certain shop too early in the process and it was found out that the client didn’t have any residential documentation.
When Azuma told this to his friend, he couldn’t believe when his friend said there are a lot of people that go to a certain loan shark company and he only went once. He couldn’t remember any faces.
His friend really wanted to go so Azuma attached a photo to a fake driver’s license.
His friend took the fake ID and went to the big loan shark company. The process went smoothly and he took the money. The woman working there greeted him by saying, “Thank you very much. Come again.”
The moment he exited the shop, he was surrounded by 8 police officers. The fake driver’s license couldn’t be matched with any existing residence record.
Mr. Yuukoku’s bad feeling about that loan shark company was right on target. That friend broke in the police interrogation and he said Mr. Yuukoku’s name.
However, he was never told the real name of Mr. Yuukoku. The police gave up trying to arrest a Mr. Yuukoku.
The investigation did continue for a little while and the police did work hard trying to find out who Mr. Azuma Yuukoku is. However, they gave up because even if they did find out, the investigation would go nowhere if Azuma denied any involvement in the crime.
The police would have to confiscate his computer, fake driver’s license, and any other fake documents if Azuma said, “I didn’t do it.”
It was also a big problem for the police to investigate Azuma’s family, where he lived, and just who the hell he is.
Azuma didn’t say his real name at all after he quit the large cellphone company. He went around to different places under other people’s names. He couldn’t go anywhere if he didn’t pay his rent.
Therefore, he was able to run away from the police. That luck wouldn’t last forever.
I will now talk about when Azuma was very little. In the year 1965, his parents moved to Tokyo for work. His father came from Yamagata and his mother came from Mie prefecture.
His mother was first married to a guy that worked for what is now NTT. This was when his sister was born. Even though there was a lot of money, she was isolated in the house so she decided to live by herself and become a hostess in Ginza. That was when she met his father whom was a Yakuza boss. She didn’t find my father attractive. She found his money attractive.
It was his family’s dream to live just the 4 of them. Unfortunately, even though his father’s Yakuza group stopped dealing in methamphetamines, he became an alcoholic when Azuma was born. Furthermore, his father was arrested for assault and obstruction so he didn’t come home.
His father didn’t go back to his hometown in Yamagata very much because he didn’t have the same amount of money as before. His mother didn’t go there either. Azuma lived with his sister and his aunt visited once every one or two weeks.
This was their only emotional support. His mother knew that they couldn’t rely on her forever so she decided to live alone after his sister graduated from high school. His mother did the paperwork to throw Azuma away to a facility.
Azuma started to smoke when he was a freshman in junior high. He started sniffing paint thinner as well. He drove cars without a license. He started to hang around local bosozoku motorcycle gangs such as the Ajisai-rengou and the Waraningyou. From there he started a life in narcotics. When he was in elementary school, he played with both local kids and kids from other areas. This was when he started to widen his view about things. Various different friends gathered around his desk at class to talk about different things.
When he was in junior high, he dyed his hair brown and wore an open necked shirt. Unlike what you see today, he drove a motorcycle to school.
There was a teacher by the name of Tanino-Sensei. This teacher didn’t want Azuma to smoke at school. The teacher also told him to park the motorcycle outside of school property. This was despite the fact that this teacher drove to the school without a driver’s license.
This same teacher also preached against smoking while smoking in the staff room. It was Azuma’s greatest concern at the time to have to become an adult while listening to this so called adult of a teacher.
Azuma only returned home when his mother was there on occasion. At those times, it was three men that was waiting for Azuma. Azuma was always glad to see his mother.
However, when he returns home, his mother forces him into the car and takes him to a youth facility and then is taken to a juvenile reformatory. Azuma then has nothing but hate for his mother wondering things like, is this how it is done? Aren’t you my mother? Do parents do this to their children? However, it was during this time that Azuma developed the following two abilities.
He doesn’t forget a person’s face after meeting him once. He also knows what people are thinking just by looking at his facial complexion. Because of this, he is also extra lonely.
For that reason, he got into arguments with people at the juvenile reformatory regardless of their age. However, he noticed that in life, things are decided based on merit regardless of age. His dream for the future was to be a cook. However, he thought becoming a top notch cook would be difficult. Therefore, he decided in junior high to proceed to high school. He was able to be accepted by Akigawa High School, which was the only public boarding school in Tokyo.
He was taught that if you work hard, your dreams would come true. However, his reality was different. Such a top notch school wouldn’t allow smoking.
It was unusual during that time for someone to be expelled just for smoking. But, he was just taken back by his mother and told not to come home.
That was when he was abandoned by his mother for the second time. Azuma then worked a part time job at a bakery. He also worked at a Chinese restaurant and he wanted to be a cook. But he needed the status of being a High School graduate so he graduated at a Osaka high school. However, he didn’t enter the world of cooking after this. This is when he started to work for a cellular phone company.
This was during an era when cellular phones weren’t widely used yet. Because of this, he became more interested in the world of cellular phones than the world of cooking. Therefore, he was hired by Kansai Cellular in Umeda Osaka, which is where the company headquarters was located.
When he was hired, he was taught about the importance of private information but such information was not valued like it is today. Of course, there was no Act on the Protection of Personal Information.
During this time, when contracting with a cellular phone company, you showed an ID but nowadays, it is called proof of identity. This era had a lot of complaints about having to show ID when contracting with a cellular phone company.
Of course, the name Azuma Yuukoku is just a name that he goes by. It is not his real name.
As he went to work everyday handling contracts and seeing IDs, bags, and wallets, he started to be able to tell the difference between genuine brand items and fakes from small differences in the material and his instincts.
Even though Azuma isn’t a police officer and didn’t make Driver’s licenses, he noticed something different about the driver’s license a customer showed him.
He then reported it to his boss. He remembers distinctly what his boss said to him. He said, “It is not up to us to decide if a driver’s license is real or fake. Our only authority is to decide where or not to make a contract with a customer at a certain price. It is not up to us to decide if it is real or not.”
Azuma then told the customer the following. “I do not know you and I cannot make a contract with this ID.”
There was also talk about calling the police. The customer then gave in.
After work he was approached by that customer. He felt fear when the customer asked him, “would you like something to eat with me?”
Azuma then replied, “I’m busy today.” The customer then said, “I would be taking your time so I won’t say that it is free for me.”
The Mr. Azuma Yuukoku at that time was influenced by his mother, whom he hated. He was also influenced by the nightlife culture that his mother brought home. Therefore, he agreed to go to the pub with this customer.
This was the Yuukoku from Kyoto. He was 23 years old at the time and 3 years older than Mr. Azuma Yuukoku.
Yuukoku from Kyoto asked Azuma, “how did you know that driver’s license was a fake?” Azuma answered, “The font is different. Of course I don’t know what kind of type face that is but I noticed a difference.”
Yuukoku from Kyoto asked, “If you say that much then tell me what kind of font it is.” Azuma didn’t answer the question but he said, “However, you have come to the shop a number of times. I have done part time jobs in the service industry a number of times so I never forget a face.”
Yuukoku from Kyoto said, “You are the only person that has noticed the driver’s license and the fact that I came in the past.”
Azuma gained the ability to not forget a face through the experience of being taken by force to the juvenile reformatory. He also gained the ability of knowing what people are thinking just by looking at their facial complexion.
Azuma thought at this moment that he shouldn’t be near this person but he was lonely so he thought it would be interesting to find out what is going to happen.
Yuukoku from Kyoto said he was going to make a fake driver’s license so allow him to make a cellular phone. The Azuma at that time refused.
However, Yuukoku from Kyoto is three years older than Azuma and Azuma needed money so he accepted an offer from Yuukoku from Kyoto. Yuukoku from Kyoto told Azuma that a lot of different kind of people are going to have fake driver’s licenses so allow him to make cellular phones if he pays a few ten thousand yen per device.
The next day was like none other that Azuma had experienced. Yuukoku from Kyoto sat in front of him and asked for a cellular phone contract. Of course the driver’s license that he brought was fake.
Azuma made that promise to Yuukoku from Kyoto. Azuma went to his house for about a year.
One day, Yuukoku from Kyoto suddenly brought out a 10,000 yen bill from underneath the television set. He handed it to Azuma and asked,
“Do you need this?”
Azuma replied, “If I may, I want it. But it looks strange. The face of this 10,000 yen bill doesn’t seem right.”
He doesn’t forget a face.
In front of his eyes were a counterfeit 10,000 yen bill. Yuukoku from Kyoto folded the bill and said, “This is a counterfeit bill that I made. There are a lot of counterfeit bills in Japan. I have made and used 5,000 of these kind of counterfeit 10,000 yen bills and it hasn’t made the news. The Japanese government won’t say anything even if they notice because it would create a panic if a lot of people knew about skillfully made counterfeit bills around everywhere. They are afraid of people noticing. Japan would be turned upside down.”
As he went to the house of Yuukoku from Kyoto, he was taught how to make various different kinds of fake documents including driver’s licenses, insurance cards, certificates of residence, seal registration certificates, among other things.
In a way, Yuukoku from Kyoto became the teacher of all things counterfeit for Azuma. Azuma decided to forget about the counterfeit driver’s license incident.
He thought, “Whatever happens, do not cancel the contract within 6 months. This includes stopping payment and forced cancellations.”
At that time, the cellular phone shop was handing out free devices so customers would contract with them so he feared immediate cancellations the most.
Azuma always prided himself on having number 1 in sales. He was even awarded by the company.
Azuma started receiving money again and again. His life became rather extravagant. He even bought a new car.
However, that life wouldn’t last long. Fake cellular phone contracts reached 500 devices and then they were all canceled all at once.
In other words, the payment stopped. In each contract, not only is each customer known, every staff involved in the contract is also known.
As expected, Azuma was summoned by his boss. He said, “I think you are aware of this but for some reason, the cellular phone contracts you made were all canceled very suddenly. That is also forced cancellation.”
In a later investigation it was found out that all the driver’s licenses that were used had incorrect fonts.
For some reason all of them were contracts made with Azuma so the company considered criminal charges.
Azuma tried to excuse the behavior saying that he didn’t notice. He was then questioned by being asked, “then why is it just your contracts that have canceled? Why is it just your contracts have fake driver’s licenses?”
Azuma started to feel very uneasy. When closing his eyes, he knew that he had to quit the company. However, things wouldn’t go away with just that.
When he did quit, the police didn’t come at first. But, he was very worried about the police coming.
Then, the Kyoto police did come.
He was asked, “do you know this man?”
The police showed him the picture of that man. They found Azuma’s bank transfers so they came to question him.
This was after he quit Kansai Cellular so it wasn’t found out that he worked at that company. When shown a picture, Azuma denied knowing him.
The police then asked, “then why is this guy sending you money?”
Azuma’s head was hurting as if he had to go to the juvenile reformatory again.
Therefore he said that he didn’t know and gave the police a story about his childhood and there was a person helping him financially but he didn’t know his name.
There was no improvement in the questioning so the police gave up. He didn’t tell them about any incidents.
Azuma wanted to search for Yuukoku from Kyoto so he started to call himself Yuukoku. He didn’t give up in his search.
Azuma started to meet various different kinds of interesting people. The reason for him knowing about information on the underworld is because of a certain fax machine. He named the fax machine “Dentsuke.”
In this fax machine were information about the underworld including gun transactions, methamphetamine transactions, syringe transactions, women’s underwear, prostitution, and black market money,. You just start the fax machine using a number that starts with a 0990 and underworld information would be transacted.
Using the name Yuukoku, he was able to meet Yuukoku from Kyoto again and he started to enter the underworld a little at a time.
Some years later Azuma heard that Yuukoku from Kyoto was killed. He was able to find this out because he was using the name Yuukoku.
After this, Azuma started again to meet various different kinds of people and have many different kinds of experiences. I would like to investigate this guy further. This is detective Masaji signing off.
