!! Fawn barely escapes being caught by standard poodle

While on our nature walk today I noticed Zack had something pointed in the water. It was a very steep Bank so I told him he didn’t need to go back down there. Needless to say he did anyway. I couldn’t tell what it was to start with until he tried to grab it. Thank goodness it was deep enough water that when he would try to grab it they would both go under and he would have to turn it loose to breathe. I thought I was going to have to slide down the bank to see if I could rescue the deer. You can see where I laid my camera down. After Zack came back to me I put him on the leash for the rest of the walk. You have to remember that a standard poodle was originally bred for hunting. They may be pretty but they still have the instinct to hunt. And he’s darn good at it.
