New 2023 Chevrolet Equinox EV SUV | First Look

With the introduction of the Equinox EV in the fall of 2023, the North American company has announced an expansion of its nascent line of electric vehicles. After repeated reports, the Chevrolet Equinox electric model will finally become a reality.

An SUV with small proportions, which, among other things, draws attention to its selling price.

Chevrolet has set one of its goals for the new Equinox EV to be an electric car available to the general population. And logically, the cost will be the deciding factor. The starting price is expected to be $30,000 (€26,500).

The electric Equinox will be available in fleet and retail models with trim levels such as LT and RS. It will also benefit from Ultium platform technology developed by General Motors.

The importance of Equinox and what it means to offer an affordable electric version of the vehicle was emphasized by Steve Hill, vice president of Chevrolet: “As Chevrolet's second best-selling namesake, the Equinox has always played a vital role. Chevy's decision to provide an affordable electric car alternative in the industry's most popular category demonstrates its commitment to making electric vehicles accessible to everyone.

We've said it before: the desire for electromobility is not limited to European businesses. As is widely known, GM is pushing this initiative and states that from 2035, no more cars with internal combustion engines will be sold. So it's no surprise that the range of all-electric vehicles will continue to grow.

During the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Chevrolet provided two upcoming cars. Although the trade show is mainly focused on entertainment gadgets, car manufacturers are increasingly adopting it as a platform.

On the one hand, the new Chevrolet Silverado EV pickup made its debut, which we will most likely cover in more depth in the next issue of Cars & Stripes.

Meanwhile, the Equinox EV, the second car, looks a little further into the future. It will be a completely new series, unrelated to the well-known Equinox vehicles of the past. The car will be built on GM's Ultium platform for electric vehicles, similar to the Silverado EV and Blazer EV, which were all announced for 2023. The Equinox EV is a beautiful, small crossover SUV that will be launched at a low price. roughly $30,000.
