The All Blacks restores back some pride in the All Blacks jersey. The All Blacks produced a die or nothing performance to beat the Springboks at Ellis Park.
1. What the All Blacks did to win:
- Huge improvement at the breakdown.
- Matched the Springboks physicality (1) Run direct at the Boks defensive line. (2) Faster defensive line speed.
- All Blacks are a very fit team.
- Players who stood out (1) Ardie Sevea and the whole forwards pack. (2) All Blacks back three managed the high balls very well.

2. Where did it go wrong for the Boks?
- Kriel, Dweba and Vermeulen inclusions failed. (Kriel mistackle on Caleb Clark, Dweba throwing a skew line out near the All Blacks try line; Vermeulen was off the pace)
- Jesse Kriel injury. Backline shift Am at wing, disrupted Boks defence system
- Boks lineout didn't function well at times. All Blacks stole a few lineout balls
- Players who stood out (1) Lukhanyo Am showed his class. (2) Handre Pollard slotted all his kicks. (3) Damian Willemse once again showed his worth in the Springboks jersey and his versatility in the backline.
