In 1966, the Boston Celtics, led by Cardinal Red Auerbach and the Lord of the rings, won an unprecedented eight-peat Bill Russell, creating the team's first dynasty, chicago Bulls to the NBA. In 1967, a new basketball organization, the ABA (American Basketball Association) , was formed with the George Mikan as its first president. That same year, the San Diego Rockets and Seattle SuperSonics joined, bringing the total to 12.
