Smoking Vs Eating CANNABIS: Whats the difference?

You’d think that any high you got from cannabis would be the same, wouldn’t you?

Apparently not.

It would seem that the high you get from smoking cannabis is not as high as the high you get from cannabis edibles, like cannabis brownies.

The question is, why?

Well, once again some clever boffins have been doing some research on how
tetrahydrocannabinol, THC, affects the body when absorbed in different ways.

THC is a cannabidiol like CBD, only this one is responsible for giving you a high.

When eaten, THC, or to give it its full name, Delta-9-THC is broken down by enzymes in the liver to create 11-hydroxy-THC.

Now 11-hydroxy-THC is far more potent than Delta-9-THC, which creates a greater high.

When you smoke cannabis, Delta-9-THC enters the bloodstream without being converted into 11-hydroxy-THC.

The other difference is that a smoking high is virtually instantaneous, but lasts only for about an hour.

An edibles high may take an hour to kick in, but will then last for far longer too.
