Our garden won't give up, update!

I thought I turned my back on the garden for the season, but we've had such unusual summer weather even after the official start of autumn that the tomatoes and peppers keep hanging on. I even half-heartedly watered the peppers again today. The 7/10 inch of rain we had a few days ago didn't last!

My dill weed has re-seeded itself and I have fresh dill again. That was a nice surprise. I looked for the cilantro to also re-seed itself but I guess it has hunkered down until spring. So be it. The cilantro has a mind of its own and refuses to be ready at the same time as the tomatoes and jalapeños.

I have a dishpan of tomatoes that are too nice to toss. Because of the warm weather, they still taste like tomatoes, too. I'll think of something...I made home-canned chili beans one year, but that recipe is long gone. Any ideas? Quickly, before they rot!
