Explosions and a towering column of smoke could be seen at the Matanzas oil depot on Monday, after a third crude tank caught fire and collapsed.

Firefighters continue to battle the blaze, initially sparked by a lightning strike last Friday, which has killed at least one person and left some 125 injured, while 14 others remain missing, according to local sources.

Local residents have been told to stay indoors, since smoke from the deadly inferno is believed to contain poisonous gases. The fire has prompted the evacuation of nearly 5,000 residents.
