Henderson, Nevada – On May 30, 2022, a 911 caller reported an intoxicated and suspicious person in the 100 block of Metropolitan Drive (near Lake Mead Parkway and Burkholder Boulevard). The caller stated the person “banged on his door and asked for a ride” and was walking around with a bag of empty (gun) shell casings that partially spilled on the caller’s driveway. Caller also stated the suspect was attempting to gain access to random vehicles in the neighborhood.

At approximately 7 a.m., police located the man, identified as Kenneth Dehart, 23 and a pursuit ensued. Dehart produced what appeared to be a black handgun which resulted in an officer-involved shooting. He was shot on the 100 block of Kola Street and subsequently taken to an area hospital to be treated for his injuries.

An investigation revealed the suspected handgun was a “replica BB gun.”
