Psalms 8

O Lord, our Lord, how admirable is your name in all the earth, for you have set your glory in the heavens!
Thou hast commanded strength from the mouths of infants and sucklings, because of thine enemies, to silence the enemy and the avenger.
When I see your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars that you have prepared;
What is mortal man that you remember him? and the son of man, that you visit him?
For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and thou hast crowned him with glory and honor.
You make him have dominion over the works of your hands; you put everything under his feet:
All the sheep and oxen, as well as the beasts of the field,
The birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, and everything that passes along the paths of the seas.
O Lord, our Lord, how admirable is your name over all the earth!

Psalms 9

I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell all your wonders.
In you I will rejoice and I will leap for joy; I will sing praises to your name, O Most High.
Because my enemies have returned, fallen and perished before your face.
For thou hast upheld my right and my cause; thou didst sit in the judgment seat, judging righteously;
Thou hast rebuked the nations, thou hast destroyed the wicked; you blotted out his name forever and ever.
Oh! enemy! desolations are gone forever; and thou hast laid waste the cities, and their memory has perished with them.
But the Lord is seated perpetually; he has already prepared his court for judgment.
He himself will judge the world in righteousness; he will execute judgment on peoples with righteousness.
The Lord will also be a high refuge for the oppressed; a high refuge in times of trouble.
Those who know your name will trust in you; for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.
Sing praises to the Lord who dwells in Zion; declare among the people his deeds.
For when he inquires of the shedding of blood, he remembers them: he does not forget the cry of the afflicted.
Have mercy on me, Lord, look at my affliction, caused by those who hate me; you who lift me up from the gates of death;
That I may tell all your praises at the gates of the daughter of Zion, and rejoice in your salvation.
The Gentiles buried themselves in the pit they made; in the net which they hid his foot was caught.
The Lord is known for the judgment he has given; ensnared was the wicked in the works of his hands.
The wicked will be cast into hell, and all the nations that forget God.
For the needy will not be forgotten forever, nor will the expectation of the poor perish perpetually.
Arise, Lord; let not man prevail; let the Gentiles be judged before your face.
Put them in fear, Lord, that the nations may know that they are made up of mere men.
