3 free Household items to use for Starting Seeds instead of store bought Seedling Trays.

Gardening supplies in my neck of the woods have been affected by the surplus of new gardeners this year, and for those of us who are starting seeds early indoors it has become an issue. Here are 3 completely free ways I have learned and am currently implementing in my own garden and homestead to start seeds this spring. The first is using recycling, old yogurt containers and the likes can all be turned in to temporary pots and trays for seedlings at different stages of growth before being transplanted outside. the Second is using paper bags, you might already have these tucked away in a drawer like we did, or if you are desperate and there are no other options you could buy these from a grocery store as they are unaffected by the demand on garden supplies. These are nice because they can be cut to different sizes and used for different stages of growth, plus they are bio degradable and can be used like a peat pot. The third is back to using some recycling, this time in the form of anything clear plastic, there is a technique of planting seeds outdoors early and covering them with a plastic bin to create the greenhouse effect to give them more of a chance of survival. This technique lowers the germination and survival rates of your seedlings quite a bit but it still does work, especially when growing cold climate crops that can withstand some frost.
