So the heavens and the earth and all their host were finished.
And on the seventh day God finished his work which he had made, and rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

And God blessed the seventh day, and hallowed it, because on it he rested from all his work which God had created and made.

These are the origins of the heavens and the earth, when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens,

And every plant of the field which was not yet in the ground, and every herb of the field which did not yet spring up, because the Lord God had not yet caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was no man to till the ground.

But a vapour came up from the earth, and watered all the face of the ground.
And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

And the Lord God planted a garden in Eden on the east side; and there he put the man whom he had formed.

And the Lord God caused to spring up out of the ground every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; and the tree of life in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

And there went out a river out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was divided, and became four branches.

The name of the first is Pison; this is the one that goes around all the land of Havilah, where there is gold.
And the gold of that land is good; there is the bdelium, and the sardonic stone.
And the name of the second river is Gihon; this is the river that compasseth all the land of Cush.

And the name of the third river is Tigris; this is that which goes toward the east side of Assyria; and the fourth river is the Euphrates.
And the Lord God took the man, and put him in the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.

And the Lord God commanded the man, saying: Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat,
But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

And the Lord God said, "It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper for him.

So the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air out of the ground, and brought them to Adam, that he might see what he would call them.

And Adam called the names of all cattle, and of the birds of the air, and of every beast of the field; but for man there was no helper found.

Then the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place;
And the rib which the Lord God had taken from man he made into a woman, and brought her to Adam.

And Adam said, "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and cleave to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
