Abused dogs first time to play Tug-a-War with rag

Peaches has been terrified of anything in your hands. Folding of clothes, a hand towel when you dry your hands, garbage bag, scared of abiut anything that you move. Today I started playing with Zak and a bandanna. After a few minutes Peaches cautiously decided to come try to join in the game. She did really good I was very pleased with this one tiny step forward. I did contact the guard dog trainer that had her for the last two months before I got her. I ask him what was his method if trying to bring her aggressive side out. He said all he had done was back tied her and shook a rag at her and it terrified her. So he never tried again he just let her be a dog.
By letting her be a dog meant he put her back in the 5 foot kennel and did not get her out of the kennel for the next two months. Eight months of total isolation other than being around other dogs in the adjoining runs.
It’s so sad how 8 months of Isolation with no loving hands are friendly voice can really mess with the dogs head. She is a very loving dog, wants attention but just too afraid to come up and get it sometimes. Time and patience lots and lots of time and patience.
