Topic: In the Gospel today, we hear Jesus telling his disciples and followers that we must pick up our crosses and lose our life to save it. At first listen, yeah, it sounds like it doesn’t make any sense. It sounds down right uncomfortable. But let’s remember that these are words coming from the one that loves us most perfectly and so passionately. He knows what our lives could be. He knows that we weren’t created for many of the hardships we see and experience. So with love, He is telling us that in order to get to a place of truly living, we need to let go. And letting go is indeed uncomfortable. We’re challenged to face the unknown. We’re challenged to change. But let it be known that He is there with you every step of the way. He is there willing to help you carry the cross of our past, our weaknesses, our human failings, and show you how your cross is the vehicle of redemption, of beginning again, of mercy unending. By following Him, we have access to the treasures of heaven that will help us fight and be victorious over the evil one who never stops trying to hit us with low blows, trying to keep us from experience being truly loved. Because once we know and experience it, life begins and you have a purpose. And even when you experience tough times, it’s love that will give even give your sufferings a purpose. All these things, me and my husband have experienced in our own journeys. So for anyone who may be struggling this very moment, it’s ok - keep going! You’re loved and you’ve made such amazing progress :)
