After China deployed planes and fired live missiles near Taiwan, the US urged China not to overreact to US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan. "There's no reason to react the way that they have or to escalate the tensions," White House national security spokesperson John Kirby said. "Bring down the tensions and work through this," he added.
