The Master Sword can only be used in the original Super Mario (Mario 1) theme in Mario Maker 2. To find the Master Sword, select the normal power mushroom upgrade, then hold down on it and you'll be able to turn it into the Master Sword!

Update 2.0 is here for Mario Maker 2 (MM2) and it includes LINK as a playable character in Mario Maker 2!
Link can now wield the MASTER SWORD in Mario Maker 2 (MM2).
To place the MASTER SWORD in Mario Maker 2, enter COURSE CREATE MODE in Mario Maker 2, select the original Super Mario Bros 1 mode, and a regular power mushroom can be changed into the MASTER SWORD for LINK to use in MARIO MAKER 2. This is a fantastic UPGRADE for Mario Maker 2 featuring LINK and the MASTER SWORD!
