Russian energy giant Gazprom now says it's "impossible" to accept the delivery of the natural gas pipeline turbine repaired in Canada, even after Ottawa exempted it from sanctions to help maintain Europe's flow of energy.

Since Canada allowed the return of the turbine used in the Nord Stream 1 natural gas pipeline, which runs under the Baltic Sea from Russia to Germany, Russia reduced natural gas supplies to Germany to 20 per cent.

As Redmond Shannon reports, critics say it was always clear Moscow was using energy as a weapon to manipulate the West.
