The final session of the International Communications Congress in Caracas heard reports from its working groups on issues like Communications for Liberation; media during times of aggression; digital networks for Latin America and the Caribbean and the International Communications University. Delegates took part from across the region as well as from sister countries like Mali. A Colombian delegate read out the Congress Final Declaration, supporting the struggle of the peoples of Boivia, Chile and Colombia and demanding the release of Julian Assange. President Nicolas Maduro thanked delegates for their work and announced the creation of the International Communications University to combat the power of imperialist media in a regional context of peoples in revolt against US imposed neoliberalism. Congress delegates later took part with Vice President Diosdado Cabello in his television program "Con el mazo dando" honoring the enduring and inspiring legacy of our Comandante Eterno Hugo Chávez Frias.
