'Colluded to make provocations': China condemns Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan

China's Foreign Ministry has condemned Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan, saying it damages peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait and impacts the political foundations of China-US relations.
Chinese warplanes were seen flying in the Taiwan Strait ahead of the US House Speaker’s arrival.
Chinese state media say the People's Liberation Army will hold exercises near Taiwan from Thursday through Sunday.
“The US and Taiwan have colluded to make provocations first, and China has only been compelled to act out of self-defence,” China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said.
“Any countermeasures China is taking will be justified and necessary.”
