Japan's Emperor Akihito, 88, diagnosed with heart failure

Naruhito's father, Emperor Akihito, was diagnosed with heart failure and his condition improved after treatment, an official at Japan's Imperial Household Agency said on Tuesday, Reuters reported. The official said that Emperor Akihito developed symptoms in June and was diagnosed this month with heart failure caused by valve disease. He has been on medication since then and has been restricted from activities. "Currently, he is living a normal life," the official said.
