New York man breaks neck trying to escape subway ticket
According to the "New York Post" report on the 3rd, a terrifying surveillance video showed that a man in the United States broke his neck as he jumped over a subway gate in Queens, New York.
Christopher De La Cruz, 28, was pronounced dead at the scene at about 6:45 a.m. Sunday at the platform entrance of a subway station in Queens, local police said.
The video shows the man trying to climb over a ticket gate turnstile after entering a subway station, but he falls and his phone appears to fall to the ground. The man, who was carrying a backpack, stumbled back a short distance before making repeated attempts to jump over another turnstile.
In the final attempt, Dela Cruz could be seen making a run, but he lost his balance and fell over the turnstile barrier. Police said he hit his own head and broke his neck on the spot.
The video shows the man lying motionless on the ground. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
Police said the man was "trying to evade fares" at the time of the incident.
