Moka Pot Mocha Latte: My Big Fat Bar of Chocolate, part 3!

Lori Fiechter here with more chocolate ideas. I had some chocolate stuck to the bottom of a Mason pint jar and decided that this would be an ideal time to show you how I make a mocha latte with my Moka pot. I have an espresso machine which makes a fast, but tiny cup of coffee. Some days, I just need more coffee than that. Most days, actually. I had a latte in a coffee shop last fall and decided that I liked lattes again. So I bought a new gadget to make that happen: a frother! I heat up the milk for about 44 seconds in the microwave and then froth it. That frother and the silicon flower-shaped lid to prevent boil-overs are my two favorite new "how did I live without them" kitchen gadgets.

I also make my own vanilla syrup--I don't show how on this video, but it is ridiculously easy: 1 part raw sugar to 1 part water, boil hard for 1 minute. Remove from heat and add vanilla (about 1 tsp. vanilla to 1 cup of water). I don't buy creamer. I feel good about that.

As far as the Moka pot, it is an italian stovetop coffee maker--ideal on those rare occasions when the electricity is out and I still want my morning coffee. Now I use it daily--probably because my mornings are a good deal more leisurely since retirement!
