CA Medical Board drops investigation of doctor that spoke out at school board meeting

About one year ago on August 10, 2021, Dr. Douglas MacKenzie, a practicing plastic surgeon in Santa Barbara at the time, spoke at a school board meeting during public comment.

The doctor dared to say something controversial.

"We are not going to get to Zero Covid ever," he said over Zoom. "We can’t make it disappear with a vaccine."

Someone heard what he said at the school board meeting and reported him to the California Medical Board.

The timing was eerie. Just a few weeks before, The Federation of State Medical Boards announced it was going after any doctors that question the lockstep COVID-19 narrative...including revoking the license of physicians who promote "misinformation or disinformation." This helped inspire AB 2098 in California, which I've covered below and is on the agenda for the Senate Appropriations Committee on Monday, August 1.

Attorney Rick Jaffe, Dr. MacKenzie, and Physicians for Informed Consent decided to file a lawsuit. Shortly thereafter, the California Medical Board rolled over and dropped its investigation against Dr. MacKenzie in July 2022. However, the battle is far from over. We explain.
