No Quick fix for Ontario ER rooms shuttered over staffing shortages

Tonight’s top story: Emergency rooms across the country are in crisis right now. In Ontario, some hospital departments have been shuttered due to staffing shortages. Meanwhile, some patients have had to wait more than 20 hours for treatment. Frontline staff are begging the government for help but as Mike Drolet reports, the problem has no short-term solution.
Officials in Montreal are worried some upcoming tourist events may cause a spike in Monkeypox cases in that city. The warning comes one week after the World Health Organization officially declared a public health emergency. As Dan Spector reports, the concerns come as both the distribution and efficacy of the vaccine face questions.
Soaring temperatures in western Canada have sparked dozens of new wildfires in B.C. and put Albertans on edge.
