Advocates for missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls (MMIWG) accuse the Canadian government of failing to deliver on its pledge to end violence against them.

For Lorelai Williams, whose Indigenous name is Palexelsiya, the cause hits close to home after losing both her aunt and her cousin. She has been advocating on behalf of her “stolen sisters” for more than a decade.

Williams took her message to Edmonton this week in the hopes of capturing Pope Francis’ attention. Neetu Garcha reports.
