The original and most widely known Catwoman, Selina Kyle, first appeared in Batman #1 (Spring 1940) in which she was known as The Cat.

The Joker is a highly intelligent psychopath with a warped, sadistic sense of humour, and has a bizarre appearance modelled after the symbol of the Joker known from playing cards.
