My father Wallace Velie took me to Courtright Lake when I was eight years old and I'm now 63 years old. During our hike we found Courtright Village which consisted, at the time of approximately 100 lots and just a few cabins. This Video talks about some of the history of the Courtright Village and Courtright Lake. It also introduces you to some of those who owned cabins in Courtright Lake and to actually meeting Shorty Lovelace, the last true Mountain Man of this part of the Sierra Nevada's. This video introduces you to some of the trail systems, hiking, a few of the many small lakes, and a few of the stories from way back when of the original owners of the Courtright Village were still alive. The video hits on trout fishing and what lure was extremely successful for me when I was a child and how I fished it. Courtright Village is in one of the most spectacular National Forests and Wildlife areas in the United States. The area is filled with trails and exciting places to visit and see. The scenery is spectacular and full of small lakes you can hike to in a day. In this are is also the deer migration route where thousands of blacktail and mule deer use to move from the high country to the lower winter feeding grounds. If you love the outdoors and feel like you can never get enough and have never heard of Courtright Lake or you have visited and want to know more, then watch this video in its entirety. Please leave a comment and I will answer anything I can. Enjoy!
