Air raid alert sirens near the Lynbrook MTA long island railroad station in the Village of Lynbrook Nassau county new york
Many fire departments on long island are still volunteer and generally get alerted for fire calls via pager alerts
Long ago before pagers became standard many of the fire departments would activate sirens they had on top of the fire houses or on various utility poles in the nearby area so that the fire department/ems personnel as well as residents in listening range would know there is a emergency call
Most of those sirens are no longer active however some departments still maintain them either for tradition or test them periodically just in the event of emergency or if the pager system ever goes down
This is most likely a test of the sirens
