Makita Brushless Motor Technology looks like Nema 17 stepper motor

I was taking apart my impact to clean it and noticed that the motor looks exactly like a stepper motor. The magnet spins on the inside instead of the outside just like a stepper motor. On a type brushed DC motor the coils on the armature spring around on the inside. On a stepper motor the individual coils fire to move the stepper.
