One-day strike by Lufthansa airport staff left many stranded at airports
Foreign tourists who have been left without connecting flights have the most problems
1. A 24-hour strike by Germanairline Lufthansa’s airport staff has disrupted the travel plans of some 130,000 passengers. Many flights from Frankfurt and Munich have been cancelled, and especially foreign passengers are facing problems at the airports.
Due to the strike organized by the Ver.di union, Lufthansa had to cancel more than 1,000 flights at the Frankfurt and Munich hubs. The airline informed the passengers about the strike in advance, so there was mostly no major chaos at the airports. However, according to the German news agency DPA, there were still long queues of foreign passengers who were stuck in the middle of their journeys.
Many flights of other airlines from the Lufthansa group, such as Swiss, Austrian, Brussels and Air Dolomiti, were also canceled, and due to the participation of Lufthansa staff in their flights, grounded some aircraft of companies such as Croatian Airlines, United, Air Canada and LOT also remained.

2. More than 1,000 Lufthansa flights were cancelled on Wednesday because of a one-day strike by the airline's German ground staff, affecting tens of thousands of passengers in the latest travel turmoil to hit Europe.
About 134,000 passengers had to change their travel plans or cancel them altogether. At least 47 connections had already been cancelled on Tuesday, German news agency dpa reported.
Lufthansa's main hubs in Frankfurt and Munich were most affected, but flights were also canceled in Duesseldorf, Hamburg, Berlin, Bremen, Hannover, Stuttgart and Cologne.
The ver.di service workers' union announced the strike on Monday as it seeks to raise pressure on Lufthansa in negotiations on pay for about 20,000 employees of logistical, technical and cargo subsidiaries of the airline.
Travel is booming this summer after two years of COVID-19 restrictions, swamping #airlines and airports that don't have enough workers after pandemic-era layoffs. Airports like London's Heathrow and Amsterdam's Schiphol have limited daily flights or passenger numbers.
