Sussession implies time. Stratification implies space. But there is also a dimension of interdependence that allows us to see an agroforestry system as a whole organism. One that which the sum of its parts creates a larger whole that we do not comprehend fully, but that we can nurture and fast track its growth through proper maintenance.
